US-Based Kenyan Medic Faces Backlash After Viral Video Exposes Intoxicated Woman in Nairobi Club

James Opanda a US-Based Kenyan medic, faces backlash after a viral video exposes intoxicated Irene Wanjiku in Nairobi club.

A U.S.-based Kenyan medic, James Opande, has sparked widespread outrage and debate across social media after a video surfaced showing him filming an intoxicated woman in a Nairobi club, lifting her dress and exposing her private parts. The clip, which has garnered hundreds of thousands of views, has divided opinions, with many condemning Opande’s actions as predatory while others point to additional footage suggesting the woman initiated flirtatious contact.

The incident came to light on January 16 when a video was posted on X by user

The footage depicts a woman, visibly struggling to maintain her balance and appearing heavily intoxicated, interacting with a man later identified as Opande. He is seen laughing while recording her, lifting her short dress multiple times to expose her lower body as she stumbles around the club. The setting appears to be a casual venue with orange decor, tables, and chairs, suggesting a nightlife spot where the pair was enjoying drinks.

Opande, a married man with teenage children living in the United States, was reportedly visiting Kenya for the holidays when the event occurred.

Social media users quickly identified him as a medic based in the U.S., leading to calls for accountability, including potential job loss or deportation.

Additional clips that emerged shortly after have added layers to the story. In one video, the woman is seen approaching Opande flirtatiously, pulling at his clothing and expressing desire for intimacy, saying phrases like “Mimi nae nataka! Itabidi umeamsha” (I want it too! You have to wake it up).
