French National Found with Burkina Faso Military Uniforms in Niamey
The French Embassy in Niamey was the scene of an unexpected and unsettling event on August 5, 2023. Around 7:30 p.m., a van carrying furniture and other personal belongings of a French citizen attempted to gain entry into the embassy premises.
Unsettling Discovery
After a thorough inspection, the vehicle was granted access. However, upon the conclusion of this scrutiny, security personnel uncovered 16 military uniforms, 21 military t-shirts, and two pairs of Rangers boots. Notably, these uniforms bore the insignia of the Burkina Faso army.
Immediate Action Taken
The discovered uniforms have been handed over to the gendarmerie’s research brigade, closely watched by the national police and Niger’s gendarmerie. Questions surround the intentions of the French national and the origins of the military attire. Investigations are currently ongoing.
