Women in Zimbabwe have to use pieces of cloth, newspapers, fresh grass, and even cow dung to absorb their menstrual blood because sanitary products are so expensive and there aren’t enough resources.

In the refugee camps of northern Uganda, an NGO found girls who were using things like paper, blankets, and cow dung to deal with their periods. Tens of thousands of refugees live in these camps. Most of the refugees are from Sudan.
They also said that some women were being forced to sell sexual favors to pay for period care for themselves or their family members.
