Mbappe-PSG deal insult to football
The head of La Liga has dubbed the PSG-Mbappe transaction an “insult to soccer.”
La Liga president Javier Tebas called PSG’s deal with Kylian Mbappe “an insult to football”. Kylian Mbappe’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain is “an insult to football,” according to La Liga president Javier Tebas, who made the comment after the star turned down a bid from Real Madrid.
La Liga president: Mbappe-PSG deal ‘insult to football’
“What PSG is doing by renewing Mbappe with large sums of money…after posting losses of 700 million euros in recent seasons and having a wage bill of over 600 million euros, is an INSULT to football,” Tebas tweeted.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of PSG, “is as dangerous as the Super League,” he said, referring to a new competition that was proposed last April with 12 of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Within days, the project fell apart because of strong opposition from their own players and fans, as well as from governments and the governing bodies of football.
