Indian student arrested for shoplifting at Dallas Airport

An Indian student was arrested for shoplifting at Dallas Airport.

Dallas, TX – April 26, 2024

A young Indian student faced a significant setback at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on January 29, 2024, as he was caught shoplifting at a Coach store while awaiting a Turkish Airlines flight to India.

The incident, captured on the store’s surveillance footage, unfolded when the student attempted to abscond with an expensive wallet without completing the purchase. Quick-thinking store staff promptly alerted airport security, leading to a tense confrontation between the student and law enforcement.

Security camera footage shows the student, whose identity remains undisclosed, discreetly slipping the wallet into his backpack before making his way towards a Turkish Airlines passenger gate. However, his plans were thwarted when Dallas airport police intercepted him.

In a transcript obtained from a YouTube video documenting the incident, the store employee detailed the sequence of events, underscoring the student’s covert actions. Despite vehement protests of innocence from the student, the footage left no doubt about his attempted theft.

Upon interrogation by airport authorities, the student adamantly denied any wrongdoing, asserting that the store employee had offered the wallet as a gift. However, this assertion was swiftly refuted by the employee, who maintained that no such offer was extended and that the student had attempted to leave without paying.

Following a thorough 20-minute investigation by airport police, the student, who claimed to hail from a respected family in India, was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.
