Ethiopian Airlines will resume flights to Moscow

Ethiopian Airlines will resume flights to Moscow after a three-month hiatus.

After temporarily suspending its flights due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine for three months, Ethiopian Airlines will resume service to the Russian capital. It is a move that was made to take advantage of the market opportunity that emerged as a result of the fact that several airlines discontinued their service to the city that serves as the capital of Russia.

After a lapse of 27 years dating back to the fall of the Soviet Union, Ethiopian has resumed its previously suspended service to Moscow over the course of the past four years.
Prior to the suspension, three flights per week were scheduled to Moscow. Ethiopian Executives have yet to specify when operations will resume.

EgyptAir, the national airline of Egypt, is the first African airline to resume service to Moscow on April 15, 2022. Due to issues with European Flight Insurance, flights to Moscow were canceled amidst the current Russia-Ukraine conflict and sanctions against Russia.

Ethiopia is not among the “unfriendly countries” designated by the Russian government following the embargo put on Vladimir Putin’s administration. This means any flights from Russia to Ethiopia and vice versa are allowed, according to the laws of the Russian government
