Deadly stampede in South Korea

A Halloween party left 125 dead in a stampede in South Korea.

A deadly stampede occurred on Saturday night at a South Korean Halloween party, killing at least 125 people and injuring at least 150. The incident occurred at the “Halloween Party” event in the capital Seoul, according to Korean officials.

Yonhap News Agency says that the stampede happened at the place where the event was held. About 20,000 people were there. The crowd had gathered at the venue, which is located near nightclubs, for the event.

Video footage posted online showed people running and screaming in panic as people were trampled by the crowd. The death toll could increase as rescue workers continue to transport the injured to hospitals across Seoul.

It was not immediately clear what caused the stampede. However, officials said it is believed many people were crushed after a large crowd began pushing forward in a narrow alley near the Hamilton Hotel. More than 400 emergency workers and 140 rescue vehicles were sent to treat the injured.
