Aishatu Binani won Governorship in Adamawa
Nigeria: Senator Aishatu Binani has won a historic victory against five male opponents.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Adamawa State was won by Senator Aishatu Binani in a historic defeat of five men. Binani is now the first woman in the state to be nominated for governor by a major political party.
Binani, who is currently serving as a senator and represents Adamawa Central, prevailed in a race for the coveted APC party ticket by defeating a man who had previously served as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
How votes Aishatu Binani received?
Jibrilla Bindo, who had just left office as governor of the state, was one of the other participants in the race, along with Wafari Theman, Umar Mustapha, and Abdulrazak Namdas, who all serve in the House of Representatives.
Binani received 430 votes, which allowed her to win the election and defeat Ribadu, who received 288 votes, according to the results that were announced by the chairman of the Electoral Committee, Gambo Lawan.
The voting for the election, which began at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, was finished at approximately 8:44 a.m. on Friday.
